That’s why her hair is so big. It’s full of secrets

If you know anything about us, you know we were probably Texas pageant moms in a former life.

We’ve always been known for having big, voluminous hair (fun fact: Leah won “best hair” in her high school yearbook) and the most common questions we get are about our hair. Since we have completely different hair types, you will see each of our hair routines below! Surprisingly, we both use a ton of the same tools and products, so here is everything we use to achieve big, voluminous hair.

Hair Tools We Swear By:

We both start by making sure to blow dry our hair with our beloved buttercup by Dry Bar. This dries our hair quickly, minimizing any damage due to the heat. Our hair feels soft and healthy after which is a must.

Leah *loves* her T3 curling iron. She has the Whirl Trio and it helps give her a more defined curl.

Read this post which goes more in depth about why we love Buttercup

and the T3 curling iron so much.

Leah’s Routine:  (for hair that is thick + curly)

Deva Curl curl definer. I use this when I get out of the shower and it helps my curls stay pretty all day instead of frizzy which I obviously hate.

Sebastian hairspray. I’ve been using this for about a year. I love it because it’s lightweight and doesn’t have the typical aerosal smell.

Big Sexy Hair Spray & Stay. This is a pretty intense setting spray. This is what I use when I’m going somewhere like the Justin Timberlake concert and I don’t want my volume to fall. This hairspray is aggressive- be careful when you use it.

These are the only combs I’ll ever tease with. We go to Sally’s every few years and buy a case of twenty and split them. They’re pretty and get the job done which are the only two things you need.

Rachel’s Routine (for hair that is fine, flat, and stick-straight):

After I wash my hair (which I try to do only 3-4x a week), I use this AG Fast Food Leave On Conditioner and then use this Keune Protein Spray for to help protect and thicken my hair. These were recommended to me by my friend who runs a hair salon, so she knows her stuff, and now I use these religiously! Then I dry my hair with buttercup with my hair flipped over, to help maximize volume!

My next step is the Bumble and bumble Pret-a-powder. I use this on clean or two-day hair, as it acts as both a dry shampoo and a great volumizer! I’ve tried about 5000 products like this, but I swear by this because it doesn’t have any drying alcohols in it! It does have a small amount of fragrance, but I have yet to find a similar product without it, so, for now, this is great.

Once I curl my hair (I’ve been using the same Conair one from Target for like 10+ years now) it’s time to tease my hair! I use the Big Sexy Hair What a Tease Backcomb in a Bottle. This stuff is intense, so use it sparingly! It’s so great for fine hair, as it has a pretty intense hold. I part my hair where I want volume, spray this underneath and then lightly tease my hair with the same combs that Leah uses.

When I’m all done, I finish off with the Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play Harder Firm Volumizing hairspray. This has great hold for fine hair!

One final thing I can’t live without is my Silk Pillowcase which is honestly just something super extra that now I can’t live without. It’s so gentle on your hair and skin, and I feel like it helps decrease the amount of stray hairs I lose throughout the night, and is also great for anti-aging too! We spend so many hours in bed each night, so I think it’s important to invest in something that will take good care of you while you sleep 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, dolls!
